Back to Albion: 25 Years Later
Old friends, favorite traditions and an awesome Homecoming weekend
This past weekend, I headed back to Albion College for my 25-year Class of 2001 reunion — which still doesn’t seem possible!

A small crew of us arrived Friday night to walk around campus, attend the welcome reception, and spend the evening catching up while looking through old photos and our senior yearbook. There was a lot of laughing and plenty of, “Oh my gosh, I forgot about that!”
Another pretty special part of the weekend was getting to see Abbe, who lived on my hallway freshman year and is now the new Vice President of Albion College. We are so proud of her and were excited to be there to support her as she steps into this new role.
Hillary, my senior-year roommate, flew in from California and stayed with Jenn and me in the cutest house in downtown Albion. It was so nice having a place where we could all gather, catch up and meet up with people throughout the weekend.
Saturday morning started early as we headed over to set up our Class of 2001 tailgate and then made our way to our respective lodges. Of course, I had to stop by Alpha Xi Delta to check out the interior remodel.
Walking to the lodge was a little nostalgic. It reminded me of the end of A League of Their Own, when the women return to the Hall of Fame and see all the photos and memories from years earlier. Looking at the composites and remembering the people, stories and moments connected to them definitely made me feel older. LOL

My “big” sister, Lisa, also came to meet us while her son was touring Albion that morning before they headed to the football game. Such a fun full-circle moment!

From there, we walked back to the football stadium and our reunion tailgate, where we got to see so many friends. While we were there, I also tracked down the brick with my name on it along the stadium walkway. It was such a fun little surprise to find it after all these years and another one of those moments that made the weekend feel especially nostalgic.

Of course, I couldn’t show up empty-handed. Through Behind Your Design, we also made several items for Albion College for the weekend, including aluminum water bottles, plastic water bottles, pens, and flags. And I wanted something fun and easy to carry around for the reunion tents, so I made Albion SPF 30 chapstick to hand out.
We ended up sharing the chapstick not only with the Class of 2001, but also with the reunion tents for the Classes of 1996, 2006, 1976 and 1971. Once a Brit, always a Brit!
After the tailgate, we headed downtown to set up for our Class of 2001 reunion reception. Even more classmates joined us and brought stacks of old photos along with them. Sitting around looking through pictures and remembering all the fun we had 25+ years ago was easily one of my favorite parts of the weekend.

I also brought Albion College pint glasses for everyone to take home as a little reunion memento.
And because no Albion reunion would be complete without it, we ended the night by painting the Rock for the Class of 2001.
The best time was truly had by all.
And I may or may not have accepted the offer to chair our 30-year reunion in 2031. 😂
See you in five years, Class of 2001! 💜💛
