More Than a Logo: Creating Connection with Hurley Medical Center
The best promotional products do more than put your logo in front of people. They help create connection. We’ve had the opportunity to work with Hurley Medical Center on a variety of projects, including two recent collaborations with very different goals. For Staff Appreciation Week, the focus was on recognizing the people who keep Hurley moving every day. For the Cars 108 Let’s Make Miracles Radiothon benefiting Hurley Children’s Hospital, it was about bringing people together in support of local children and families.
Different projects, but both show how thoughtful branded products can help people feel appreciated and part of something bigger.
A Little Appreciation Goes a Long Way
No matter the size of your organization, taking the time to recognize your employees can make a difference in creating a positive workplace culture. Research from Gallup and Workhuman found that employees who receive high-quality recognition are 45% less likely to leave their organization over a two-year period. Appreciation doesn’t have to be a grand gesture to be meaningful.
For Hurley Medical Center’s Staff Appreciation Week, we helped create a collection of branded items to hand out to employees throughout the week, including custom lanyards, coffee mugs, flower pots, badge holders and license plate covers. The variety gave Hurley a fun and practical way to recognize its team while giving employees items they could enjoy and use beyond Staff Appreciation Week.
Bringing People Together Around a Cause
Our collaboration with Hurley had a different focus for the Cars 108 Let’s Make Miracles Radiothon benefiting Hurley Children’s Hospital. The two-day Radiothon brought Hurley staff, community partners, volunteers, sponsors and supporters together, ultimately raising more than $54,000 to help provide lifesaving care, advanced equipment and comfort for children and families at Hurley Children’s Hospital.
Behind Your Design created several styles of custom event apparel, including navy T-shirts, teal T-shirts and baseball-style shirts, for people to wear throughout the event. Custom apparel was a simple way to visually bring everyone together around the same cause. It also gave the event a cohesive presence in photos, videos and social media, allowing the mission and branding to naturally become part of the story.

Promotional Products With a Purpose
These two projects called for very different products, but both were ultimately about people. From recognizing employees to rallying a community around an important cause, custom promotional products and branded apparel can help organizations create meaningful connections.
That’s why we love helping our clients think beyond simply putting a logo on something. Whether you’re planning an employee appreciation event, organizing a fundraiser or outfitting your team, Behind Your Design can help you find promotional products and custom apparel that fit your brand, your purpose and the people you want to reach.
Let’s create something that brings your brand and community together.
