License to Chill: A Night of Glamour and Giving at the Hurley VIP Gala
How Behind Your Design Supported a James Bond–Inspired Evening for a Vital Cause

On Saturday, August 26th, I had the honor of serving on the committee for the Hurley Foundation VIP Gala—an unforgettable black-tie evening of elegance, mystery, and heartfelt purpose. The event, held at the Sloan Museum of Discovery, brought together community leaders, sponsors, and supporters to raise funds for a crucial expansion of Hurley Medical Center’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit.
The gala’s theme—James Bond style espionage—set the tone for a sophisticated affair. From the strolling dinner and silent auction to the high-stakes "jewel heist" grand prize furnished by Medawar's, every detail captured the spirit of intrigue and luxury.
As a committee member, I had the privilege of helping my dear friend Lisa Marie Szukhent—Hurley Foundation’s Director of Events & Sponsorships—bring her bold vision for the night to life. Watching Lisa Marie lead this event with heart, humor, and style made it even more special to be involved.
Behind Your Design contributed to the magic of the evening by designing and producing custom poker chips for the tables. These chips served as both elegant decorations and one-of-a-kind keepsakes for guests to take home. It was a small touch that added to the overall immersive theme of the night.
Most importantly, the gala raised significant funds to support Hurley’s efforts to keep rehabilitation care under the same roof where lives are saved—ensuring patients have a seamless recovery process close to home and family.
From the décor to the cause, it was a night to remember—and I’m so proud to have played a part in it.
